This means that as of January 1, 2025, alimony will be increased by 6.5%. This makes the index rate almost twice as high as for 2023 and has not been this high since 1983. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"> <\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This index figure has a major impact on the amount of child or spousal support. And is therefore a serious influence on the alimony payer&#8217;s ability to pay and on the space left for the alimony payer to meet his or her other expenses from. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"> <\/span><\/p><p><strong>A mathematical example:  <\/strong><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">You have two children and pay child support of \u20ac750.00 per child per month.  <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Child support increases by \u20ac48.75 per child to \u20ac798.75 per month.  <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"> <br><\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Thus, for two children, an increase of \u20ac97.50 per month.  <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"> <\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In addition, if you pay spousal support of \u20ac1,000.00 per month, it increases to \u20ac1,065.00.  <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"> <\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Total charges go up by \u20ac162.50 per month.  <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"> <\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Thus, this high indexation, in combination with legally relevant changes, may trigger recalculation and possible modification of alimony.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"> <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"> <\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">For more information about alimony, indexing and what consequences it may have, contact one of our attorneys in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.willedonker.nl\/en\/expertise\/family-law\/\">Law of Persons and Family Law<\/a> Practice Group.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"> <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"> <\/span><\/p><p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Stay informed<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"> <\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">At Wille Donker, we are at home with your case.
